I was recently in Nashville for a conference for work (National School Board Association meeting with my client, the National Peanut Board). It’s such a cool town. I hate to be away from my family for work, but at least I get to go to fun places for dinner!
Merchants Restaurant is definitely that kind of cool place. The restaurant is in a historic building on the Nashville “strip” and has an relaxed vibe. Stocked to the gills with interesting libations, the bar has a huge cocktail list, plus local beers, and loads of wine. The menu downstairs is simple, but interesting bar and Southern Americana, while the upstairs is pure steakhouse.
My colleagues and I split the Southern Fry (how could I not?) that was a tasty appetizer of fried catfish bites, shrimp, okra and pickles with cocktail sauce and remoulade. It was just the perfect little something.
Followed by a super simple house salad, it was just enough food. Next time you’re in Nashvegas, add Merchants to your list. xo
